Diy decor: room pom poms!

11:09

Another good afternoon dear BeYOUties! Today I thought I'd show you an adorable and very easy DIY for you all to try and the best bit is that the poms poms can be made in any colour and pattern to suit your exact taste! Perfect :D if you look down at the collage below, the top left picture are my own poms poms in my room and if you're wondering why they're not hanging from the ceiling like they should.... Well it's because if we had put them on the ceiling there would've been some complications so to avoid all that hassle I decided to be a little more creative and abstract (if you like) and hung them flat on my bedroom wall. I personally think it's such a cute way to display them, especially if you can't put them on the ceiling and a little different to the usual. You can also put them in big glass jars, hanging from windows-not on the outside, unfortunately they are not waterproof- and anywhere else you can think of. So let's get started!!

Aren't they just adorable?! *note if you're wondering what's in the center of my pom pom, it's a wrapping flower off a present and that black thing hanging down from them is a little sequin heart I added for contrast.
Instructions:
So if you're a visual learner, you can follow the two different tutorials in the collage, one's at the top and one's at the bottom. Otherwise continue to read for the written instructions:
1) have around 8-10 pieces of tissue paper ready-this amount should get you a middle sized pom pom, just add and subtract pieces if you want a different size. If you want different colours in your pom pom alternate tissue paper colour
2)Neatly accordion fold all the pieces of paper *refer up to picture 1 on the first collage or picture 2 on the second collage if you are unsure
3)use string or wire to secure the paper, tie it in the middle.
4)cut the two edges into circles to create the petal look of the flower. Again refer up to the collage to check.
4)carefully pull all the individual pieces of paper to the center. Fluff them up as you go and be careful as tissue paper rips easily. Do one side at a time and you'll notice the ball shape starting to form.
5)adjust your work to make it look fuller and more proffesional.
6) hang your work with clear fishing line if you're attaching it to the ceiling, if hanging flat on the wall then use the excess string or wire from securing the paper earlier or add to it. If you're leaving it off the wall or putting them into a jar you can miss this step.
7) if you are not pleased with your work, then don't worry, not everything goes right on your first go! Have another try and if you're still stuck I recommend going onto youtube and watching a tutorial to do it more interactively. I hope you manage successfully with these instructions though!

Mine now look like this, as I rearranged my them and added a yellow colour :

I hope you will all enjoy making these lovely accessories for your room and put you out of boredom this summer. Give it a go, you'll be pleased with the results and it will spice your room up xx
Happy making!
Lots of love
